ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRY SCIENCE

Animal Husbandry is the branch of agriculture concerned with animals that are raised for meat, fibre, milk, eggs or other products. It includes day to day care, selective breeding and the raising of livestock. Whereas, Dairy Science is a program that focuses on the application of biological and chemical principles to the production and management of dairy animals and the production and handling of dairy products.

EDUCATION

Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Science offers following courses to B.Sc (Hons) Agri. students in the Shriram College of Agriculture, Paniv.

 Livestock Unit and Poultry Unit

The Department of AHDS is having the livestock unit and poultry unit which consist of following

1. Cattle
2. Buffalo
3. Goats
4. Poultry Birds

DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES

            In regards of department activities the department is running experiential Learning Module course SRP – EL-AHDS-405 Processing of Milk and Milk Product Module as per the V Dean syllabus which is offered to the students during the VIII Sem through which the students can start their own enterprise and also do marketing successfully. Also department is rearing the Poultry birds in which students can understand the all the management practices from first day till marketing of poultry birds. Departmental staff gives the guidance lecture to the farmers related to AHDS through agricultural department and also through radio talk and also through RAWE Programme.
