DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS AND STATISTICS

Mathematics and Statistics is a most distinct and essential branch of Agricultural Science which acts as a strong foundation for scientific planning and decision-making in agricultural production. The Department of Mathematics and Statistics was established in the year 2013 at Shriram College of Agriculture, Paniv, with the objective to coordinate and strengthen teaching, research, and extension activities related to quantitative analysis in agriculture. Mathematics and Statistics play a vital role in the analysis of agricultural data, experimental results, and field observations. Statistical analysis helps in formulating accurate recommendations regarding crop production, fertilizer application, irrigation management, and yield prediction. Mathematical tools assist in resource optimization, farm planning, and economic analysis. As variability in climate, soil, and crop performance is a major challenge faced by farmers today, the application of Mathematics and Statistics provides scientific guidelines and reliable solutions to improve productivity and sustainability in agriculture.

OBJECTIVES

            Aims to develop logical thinking and analytical skills among students and to provide basic mathematical knowledge essential for agricultural studies. It helps students in accurate calculation, measurement, and problem-solving related to farm planning, resource management, and crop production. Mathematics also supports efficient decision-making and forms a strong foundation for advanced agricultural research and modern farming practices.
