INSTITUTIONAL CODE OF CONDUCT

Institutional Code of Conduct for Students

            These are the rules, responsibilities, and behaviour expected from students at Shriram College of Agriculture, Paniv.

  1. Respect and Integrity
  • Treat all staff, teachers, peers, visitors with courtesy, dignity, and respect.
  • Do not engage in bullying, harassment, discrimination (including caste, gender, religion) of any kind.
  • Maintain honesty: no cheating, plagiarism, or academic misconduct.
  1. Attendance and Punctuality
  • Attend classes, labs, fieldwork, practicals, and workshops on time.
  • Abide by schedule for morning/afternoon sessions; attendance may be marked.
  • Be present for roll calls or biometric/morning attendance, if applicable (if instituted).
  1. College Identity and Access
  • Carry valid college ID card at all times within campus.
  • Access only permitted areas, respect security protocols.
  1. Behaviour and Discipline
  • Maintain decorum in classrooms, laboratories, hostels, library, and other common areas.
  • Use mobile phones / devices only in permitted zones / times, as per college policy.
  • Dress in a manner appropriate to the academic environment; no offensive, indecent, or disruptive attire.
  1. Use of Facilities and Resources
  • Handle labs, equipment, library books and farm/field equipment / infrastructure responsibly.
  • Keep the premises clean; no littering or damage to college property.
  • Respect hostels, dining halls, recreational areas; follow hostel rules (curfews, visitors etc.).
  1. Academic Responsibilities
  • Complete assignments, projects, practicals on time.
  • Prepare adequately for labs, field trips, examinations.
  • Adhere to syllabus and academic guidelines, including the instructions of the instructor.

 

  1. Safety and Environment
  • Follow safety protocols in labs, field work, workshops.
  • Use protective gear / precautions when handling chemicals, heavy tools etc.
  • Respect environmental norms — water conservation, waste disposal, sustainability practices.
  1. Co-operation and Participation
  • Be involved actively in academic, co-curricular, extension, and field activities.
  • Participate in seminars, workshops, community outreach as required.
  1. Compliance with Rules
  • Follow rules regarding hostel facilities, mess, leave / permissions.
  • Abide by college disciplinary procedures; any violation may attract warnings, penalties.
  1. Use of Communication
  • Use polite, respectful language in all verbal / written communication.
  • Social media use: avoid posting content that harms the college’s image or person’s dignity.
  1. These are expected norms and responsibilities for teachers and administrative personnel.

    1. Professionalism and Integrity
    • Carry out duties with honesty, fairness, and ethical standards.
    • No discrimination based on caste, gender, religion, personal beliefs. Uphold inclusive environment.
    1. Teaching, Academic Responsibilities
    • Complete the assigned syllabus fully and in a timely manner.
    • Prepare lectures / practicals thoroughly; use appropriate pedagogical methods.
    • Stay updated in subject matter; engage in continuing education / research.
    1. Fairness and Evaluation
    • Evaluate assignments, tests, practicals fairly and transparently.
    • Provide constructive feedback to students.
    • Avoid favouritism or bias.
    1. Respect and Mentorship
    • Treat all students with respect and dignity.
    • Mentor and support students, especially those who may need additional guidance (academic or otherwise).
    1. Punctuality and Attendance
    • Be present for scheduled classes, meetings, departmental duties.
    • Meet deadlines for administrative tasks (grading, reporting, syllabus submission etc.).
    1. Use of Resources and Facilities
    • Use college infrastructure, labs, equipment, funds responsibly.
    • Avoid misuse or waste; ensure maintenance.
    1. Institutional Integrity and Compliance
    • Comply with all college / affiliating university / government rules, policies (e.g. under MCAER, MPKV Rahuri).
    • Attend meetings, follow directives from authorities.
    1. Safety, Environment and Ethics
    • Ensure safety protocols are followed, particularly in labs/field work.
    • Promote sustainable agriculture, environmental stewardship.

     

    1. Communication and Conduct
    • Maintain professionalism in communications with students, colleagues, administration, public (including via social media).
    • Keep institutional confidentiality where required (student records etc.).
    1. Continuous Improvement and Collaboration
    • Encourage / participate in research, publications, workshops, extension activities.
    • Cooperate with peers, staff, departments, external agencies to further the college’s mission.
    1. Conflict of Interest
    • Avoid situations where personal interests conflict with college responsibilities.
    • Disclose possible conflicts; avoid using one’s position for personal gain.
