Animal Husbandary And Dairy Animal

Animal Husbandry is the branch of agriculture concerned with animals that are raised for meat, fibre, milk, eggs or other products. It includes day to day care, selective breeding and the raising of livestock. Whereas, Dairy Science is a program that focuses on the application of biological and chemical principles to the production and management of dairy animals and the production and handling of dairy products.

Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Science offers following courses to B.Sc (Hons) Agri. students in the Shriram College of Agriculture, Paniv.

Livestock Unit and Poultry Unit

The Department of AHDS are having the livestock unit and poultry unit which consist of following

1. Cattle

2. Buffalo

3. Goats

4. Poultry Birds

In regards of department activities the department is running a ‘Artificial Insemination Centre’ of Phule Triveni Cattle breed which is developed by the M.P.K.V., Rahuri. The main object to start the Artificial Insemination centre is to provide the service in the locality and in tehsils. The service is providing to the farmer on his own dairy farm for that college has appointed a veterinary Person.

As the Department is also running a AEL-ASDS-487 (Old) Milk and Milk Product Module which is offered to the students during the VIII Sem through which the students can start their own enterprise and also do marketing successfully.
